Effect of Trust on Social Cohesion

Social Cohesion is the glue that brings people together in society particular in the context of cultural diversity and trust between members of the society has a significant effect on Social Cohesion.

Without Social Cohesion there is a chance of Social Collapse in which I will talk about later.

Fundamental to social cohesion is employment, income, health, education and housing. Relations between and within communities suffer when people lack work and endure hardship, debt, anxiety, low self-esteem, ill-health, poor skills and bad living conditions. These basic necessities of life are the foundations of a strong social fabric and important indicators of social progress. Other important parts of social cohesion are order, tolerance, networks, fairness and trust.

For me trust is really the most important factor in social cohesion. Once tipping point in people of not trusting and believing external factors in the environment then how can society function.

Example if you stop trusting you boss, fellow employees, doctors, teacher, banks, religious organisations how can these entities function. Trust between people has deteriorated significantly because becoming honest has lost its importance in society and the consequences for being dishonest has really degraded
